The title track off the new album, dropping October 12th. It’s a much darker song than what Sufjan is used to making, even more so than “John Wayne Gacy, Jr.”. The song is very glitchy (a la Enjoy Your Rabbits), and very loud (thanks in part to the brass section accompaniment). It’s a haunting, yet powerful melody.
A weird combination right? Nick Hornby (An Education, About a Boy, High Fidelity), has decided to have a go at songwriting. He teamed up with Ben Folds, who wrote all the music. I heard this played last fall when i saw Ben play with the DSO and it is a different song for Ben, but it works. The album drops tomorrow.
Because i love you all, I will be posting over the course of the next few weeks many of Sufjan’s new songs from his new album The Age of Adz. If you preorder it now from his bandcamp site or on Asthmatic Kitty, you can get the album in full tomorrow! Offer ends tonight however. This is the first song on the album.
I’ll be reblogging the posts on this blog as well (i run both). Enjoy the new songs!!
