The Top 50 Favorite Albums of 2011
2011 was a good year. Rather it was a good year for electronic music and hip hop. Indie rock albums were lacking a bit in 2011. Of course there were some really spectacular rock albums released this year, but compared to the past few years, there was something to be desired. It was about time for rock to step out of the spotlight and let other genres shine anyways.
Now these aren’t albums...

Honorable Mentions of 2011
The following are albums that i really enjoyed but didn’t quite make the cut on the year end list. This doesn’t detract from the quality of the albums themselves, but i didn’t find myself as engrossed in them as i did with the albums featured on my full list.
The Throne - Watch the Throne
Fucked Up - David Comes to Life
Araabmuzik - Electronic Dream
Das Racist - Relax

Top 11 EPs/Singles of 2011
In no particular order, here are a few EPs and 12”/7” singles that i really enjoyed this year.
Street Halo EP || Burial
What i wouldn’t give for a new full length Burial album… But alas. At least we got some great releases from him this year, including his collaboration with Massive Attack, Four Walls.
Darkside EP || Darkside
If it’s one thing that i...

theswordthestreets asked: hey! just wanted to say, loving your blog really cool stuff. And we both described Karen O's vocals as "howling". I guess great minds think alike ;) I just wrote a post about the tune myself, check it out if you're so inclined ;) I think you'll like it. anyhow, keep up the blogging cause i will be looking for more posts!

The Other Shoe || Fucked Up
Now i can’t say that i’m truly a punk rocker, but i do enjoy some punk every now and again. And there probably ins’t a better punk band out there (in my limited knowledge of current punk music) than Fucked Up (Trash Talk is fucking sick too). David Comes To Life is a killer album and let’s be honest, this is the best song on it. The strange...

For this particular list i’m going to be excluding 1) any festival bands that i saw (i’ll do that later) and 2) the NYE concert i’m going to, and am instead classifying that as next year. Now that means that last years NYE show is applicable to this list. Now let’s get to it.

After finals are over i’m planning on having a “Time Squad” marathon. There will also be some “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends” thrown in as well. Anyone care to join?
Ke$ha covers Bob Dylan.
No, i’m not shitting you. This is Ke$ha covering Bob Dylan for Amnesty International.
What the fucking hell…
pitchfork:
Robyn’s backward somersault/floor hump (while wearing platform Timbs!) is one of several highlights from her performance of “Call Your Girlfriend” on last night’s “SNL”.
Robyn kicks so much ass in her live shows. Simplicity is often the best route to take when performing pop songs and she has mastered her craft. Her’s was one of the best shows that i went to this past year.
